This website came about from an idea conceived around 2001/02 when I (Amy) was working at the Adelaide Advertiser in South Australia.
During weekly cadet training with my fellow junior journalists, or maybe during one of our regular drinking sessions at the paper’s local, The Criterion – either way, it was discussed at both – I first announced I was going to one day start my own ‘paper’, The Freeborn Times.
My good friend and fellow journo, Daniel Clarke, was immediately keen to be involved (as were a few others), and we’d regularly talk about our plans for TFT Revolution!
The initial idea was to run a counter-culture newspaper from tree-top offices in a rainforest, with a correspondent reporting from the urban jungle, too. But over the years as we’ve all moved to different parts of the country, and the world; and the digital revolution has given rise to communication and publication online; The Freeborn Times has evolved to a digital platform able to reach all corners of the world.
The site aims to provide a portal for our ideas and ideals, our observations and opinions, and reports on the towns, regions and countries in which we travel and live – and hopefully it will be a destination you’ll come back to often.
