Some info about me: 

Having begun my journalism career at one of the biggest media companies in the world, it had always been a dream of mine to one day write for an independent publication, free of the managerial agendas and political correctness that comes with corporate newspapers.

When good friend and fellow journo Amy Freeborn announced her intentions for such a publication, I had no hesitations in signing up as one of her team.

I began my cadetship at The Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide in 2001 and during the next four years I worked in all departments, building a passion for police rounds and the environment. I resigned from The Advertiser in 2005 and travelled around Australia in a campervan for 11 months.

Eventually landing in Melbourne, I worked as a face-to-face fundraiser for charities such as Amnesty International, Fred Hollows and Red Cross. I then had a brief stint as a general reporter at a local community newspaper (Leader publications) before becoming a media officer for Victoria’s five leading environment groups: Environment Victoria, Australian Conservation Foundation, The Wilderness Society, Friends of the Earth and the Victorian National Parks Association.

In December 2008 I will begin yet another campervan road trip around Oz. I will be doing some freelance writing and posting stories and photos for The Freeborn Times.
